TrnscndWellness X Chicago Sky Foundation's Small Women Business Cohort
What happens when a women-owned décor company connects with a print studio, a yoga business that's also next-door neighbors to a boutique that exclusively carries women-owned brands, a travel accessory brand, a Black and women-owned nail salon, a floral company, and a health and wellness company that created the only sensory friendly toothpaste on market of its kind?
You get eight powerful, purpose-driven businesses united through the Chicago Sky Foundation’s 5th Annual Small Women Business Cohort—each bringing their own magic, mission, and momentum to the table.
Over the past four weeks, we participated in a dynamic series of workshops—from media readiness and cybersecurity essentials to unforgettable moments like meeting Scottie Pippen at Wintrust Arena and capturing a photo with the legend himself!
The program culminated in a powerful pitch event, where each of us shared our vision and competed for up to $30,000 in grant funding. As the creators of Talk Natural Whitening Toothpaste, we were proud to share our plans for expanding into a travel-size version and launching a Talk Kids line. We also highlighted our community commitment—giving back to women’s homeless shelters right here in Chicago.
While we didn’t place in the top three, we are incredibly proud of our fellow cohort members—Print Studio, Tati’s Florals, and Bon Femmes—for securing $30K, $20K, and $10K respectively. Their pitches were inspiring, and their wins are well-deserved.
TrnscndWellness is honored to have been selected for this impactful program. Being in community with such a diverse and powerful group of women-led brands—each one grounded in purpose, passion, and perseverance—was nothing short of transformational. We’re also deeply grateful for the grant support received from the Chicago Sky Foundation.
Reflecting on our journey, we’re proud of how far we’ve come since launching our flagship product, Talk Toothpaste, in November 2024 following a three-year development journey. Our founder, Nicole Sain, created this product with love and intention—partnering with experts to develop a safe, low-sensitivity formula that supports gum health, feels fresh and polished, and is even safe if swallowed. Born out of the need to care for her daughter with sensory sensitivities and personal desire to reduce her own gum irritation, Talk was made to feel like home for everyone—especially those often overlooked by traditional oral care.
Our biggest takeaway from the cohort? Focus on growing our tribe! We are committed to building a community of loyal supporters who see the value in inclusive wellness. Product expansion will come—but right now, we’re rooted in connection.
In closing, we invite you to support each of these amazing women-owned businesses—whether by shopping in person, following their journeys on social media, or simply sharing this post with your circle!
We love you and thank you!
XOXOXOXO
