Our Story
About Founder, Nicole Sain
Talk Fluoride-Free Toothpaste began in 2021, and yes, the spark came from eucalyptus oil. At first, that may sound like a leap, but it was learning about eucalyptus oil’s antibacterial and anti-inflammatory benefits that pushed me to create our flagship brand, Talk, under parent company TrnscndWellness LLC.
At the time, I was in the middle of a major life transition, parenting, and working as an Engineer with limited resources. Entrepreneurship was not on my radar, not even in the peripheral. But one morning, while brushing my teeth, I felt a clear nudge — spirit led — that caused me to push forward with envisioning all the ingredients I desired in Talk which focused on helping gum health, cavity prevention, and providing a quality clean feel. After asking myself, “If someone else can do it, why can’t I?” Figuratively speaking I then laced up my shoes, secured the parachute, and took the leap into the journey of developing Talk toothpaste with the help of experts.
What started as a personal solution for my gum irritation became something much bigger. Over three years of development, I worked to create a toothpaste that not only helped me and my family stay cavity-free, but also worked for my daughter, who is autistic and has sensory differences. Her experience taught me that oral sensitivities are about more than taste or texture preferences. I learned from her that the foam, texture and taste can determine whether a person with sensory differences can tolerate toothpaste at all. With Talk, she never refused brushing, and that mattered.
Talk officially launched in November 2024 as the first fluoride-free toothpaste in the U.S. designed to strengthen teeth with hydroxyapatite while also being intentionally formulated for neurodivergent individuals and those with oral sensitivities. We are proud to be the first Black woman-owned hydroxyapatite-enriched toothpaste brand in the country.
Today, Talk is one year into its journey, and we’ve expanded our headquarters to Houston, Texas, while continuing to build from our Chicago roots. We are the underdog, and we’re excited to keep pushing forward on the path to becoming a household name across America.
The Journey
Gum Irritation & Eucalyptus
2021
During the pandemic, I briefly turned to smoking while navigating motherhood, an engineering career shift, and major life changes—sparking concerns about my gum health. That turning point led me to explore preventative oral care, where I discovered the benefits of eucalyptus oil—an insight that became the foundation for Talk Toothpaste. TrnscndWellness LLC was formed. *Pictured here are my twins, including my daughter, who would later play a critical role in how Talk is formulated.
Research & Testing
2021-2024
Talk’s formula was built with intention—each ingredient selected to protect against cavities without harsh residue, while remaining sensory-friendly.Through four iterations, my autistic daughter consistently chose Talk over every other brand. It was a clear sign we were solving a need far beyond our home. With no existing oral care designed for the oral sensitive & neurodivergent community, Talk set a new standard—backed by third-party testing, vegan certification, and FDA registration.

Our Values
Care Comes First
If you have a question, a concern, or a tube of Talk that just didn't work out for you, we want to hear it — and make it right. That's why every order comes with a 60-day guarantee: we'd rather refund you than let you sit with something you don't feel good about. Don't hesitate to email hi@talktoothpaste.com.
Honesty Is Our Policy
We list our third-party test results because "trust us" isn't good enough — you should be able to check for yourself. Talk is FDA registered, independently tested, and built so you never have to take our word for anything.
Quality Over Quantity
We're not trying to launch ten products this year. Every product we build gets the same slow, careful attention Talk did — considered ingredient by ingredient, with sensory comfort as a non-negotiable, not an afterthought.
Innovate for the Sensitive User
Most brands design for the average mouth and hope it works for everyone else. We start at the other end — with the person who gets overwhelmed the fastest — because if it works for her, it works for everyone.
Comfort, Not Overstimulation
Daily routines shouldn't feel like a fight against your own senses. We choose textures, scents, and formulas that aim to feel calming rather than jarring, so self-care can be one less thing your body has to brace for.
Built By Someone Who Lived It
This isn't a brand built from a marketing brief — it's built by a mom who needed it for her own gums and her daughter's mouth, and couldn't find it anywhere else. Every value on this list comes from that lived experience first, and the business second.
